Slow method

 Used Gilgamesh, 2 Hyoh, 6* Ace, CG Nichol, 7*Wilham. Any single provoke  draw attack tank will work, use K Producer's Jacket or similar item for 100% passive provoke. All units need status immunity at least petrify. Passing the ambush attack is the hard part. Use Ace and CG Nicol to MP regain and Soulful Stance. Use Excalipoor to break chain with Hyohs and keep Soulful Stance up and just rinse and repeat until dead. It will take awhile though.

Veary easy if you have aRan and Veritas of the Light

VoL use light attack with increased dammage on Demons and does not nead a lot of MP aRan can recver Hp and MP with his LB gauge

Notes
I got all but the esper mission, but that could be accomplished by delaying the turns leading to the kill.
- Firstly, if a unit dies, don't panic. Just wait until you have MP to revive them, which can often be done by either Rosa or Merc Ramza, or both.
- Secondly, when in doubt, just guard until enough mp is built up for action to take place.
- Thirdly, at minimum fill up on stat pots for DEF/MP. SPR, MAG, and HP vary depending on the unit.
- Additionally, all espers may not be maxed so stats may vary, but these are the most relevant abilities to their respective esper: Camouflage on Tetra Sylphid, Raise on Phoenix, Demon Killer on Diabolos, M Demon Killer on Ramuh. All abilities are assumed to have their ability awakening unless otherwise specified.
  • Merc Ramza is going to spend his using his ability awakened Blade of Justice to break ATK/MAG (do that first turn), his AoE phys cover, rarely heals and revives, and his cd imperil when preparing to kill. Distraction's Firestarter wasn't really used.
  • Rosa is going to use ability awakened Bless and rare heals or revives. Otherwise lots of guarding.
  • Snow is gonna get berserked, perform counters, die, stay dead if can't revive, get revived, and repeat. No player input required.
  • Ace is purely there for fixed MP restores via ability awakened Spirit Hand. Ability awakened Tri-beam Laser may be used, but rarely. Mainly guarding otherwise, though he was intended to be the esper summoner.
  • Dragonlord and Trance Terra are dealing damage. Dlord may provide emergency heals if he has the mp. TTerra is more often than not using enh Magical Activation for 0 mp chaos waves that dlord can finish the chain of. Note that my Dlord was at 1400 MAG and 731 MP due to weapon enhancements.

Several turns may be spent turtling, but it's worth it in the end.

Slow but save:

Use passive provoke via items and active provoke skills in order to not only draw the berzerk every other round, but also to draw the single target MP drain! I used Wilhelm with Moogle plush 'shield' and the yellow balloons as accessoire. On the long run, your other units will have enough MP to use magic/skills.

Keep in mind that dispel recovers berzerk!

Having two different sources of instant MP helps, too. CG Nichols MP-recover costs only 10 MP and was reliable for me. My second source was Ayaka, because of high SPR and MP.

Buffing your team's SPR is a good idea to counter the SPR debuff every round.

Damage dealers should be magic or hybrid. I used 2 Luneras for chaining and Fryevia as hybrid finisher.


After two annoying and hilarious defeats, I went with a more defensive mindset. So, we have:

- Wilhelm (7.7k HP, 439 Def, 363 Spr) with Moogle Plushie, Yellow Ballon, a little evasion (Titan)
- Basch (6k HP, 593 Def, 636 Spr) with 110% Dark Resist (Fenrir)
- CG Nichol (821 MP, 229 Def, 488 Spr) with Knuckles of Hope, Great Rave's Cape, Invigorator (Phoenix)
- Seaside Nichol (434 MP, 222 Def, 469 Spr) with Vestment of Mind, Wind-up Alphinaud and Great Mage's Chant (Ramuh) 
- Orlandeau (about 1.1k Atk) with Dual Wield Holy Weapon and Sun's Barret (Diabolus)
- Friend: 7* Hyoh with Holy Weapon and about 2100 Atk if I can recall

ALL of the with Petrify resist

Rotation was basically keep buffing Def/Spr with both Nichols. Seaside Nichol's barrier and damage mitigation made this battle a HELL LOT easier. Nobody died and both Nichols pretty much always at least MP to double cast MP Recover

Orlandeau did the first break, then it was rotating on Basch's 50% Breaks

Originally I'd use my Light Veritas with Diabolus and Sun Barret and a Friend Orlandeau, but couldnt find on time a Holy Petrify Resist Landeau, so went with mine.

Even if it takes a little longer, I'd reccomend not bringing Hyoh, as his MP consumption is just to big for this fight. Dual Wielding Sephiroth/Orlandeau/Dark Veritas with to less damage, but will need WAY less MP (and you generate Esper orbs as well)

All and all, not a noobie friendly trial, but managable with the right units
