Cleared all three missions using:

  • Ayaka with Bahamut(or a reraising with dual case). I use Ayaka mainly for Stop and Charm removing as needed along with Curaja/Esuna depending on the wave.
  • ExAileen with Odin - Build her True Doublehand with Figo's TMR instead on Adventurer V materia. Aigaion fist
  • Basch with Siren - 9900+ HP 105% element resist fire ice water, 55% on the other resist. Geared with Ulric's Kukri, Hero Sheild, Dragon Helm/Mail, Sorcerer's Cape and Judge Magister CLoak. Materia use are: True Hydealyn Guard, HP30%, Heavy Chimera & H Armour Arts
  • Lunera 1 - Stack as much MAG and has her own TMR
  • Lunera 2 - Stack as much MAG
  • Friend unit: CG Fina built preferably with SPR. -Primirally used for AoE reraise and Light debuff.

  • Unless otherwise stated, try to build ExAileen LB and esper gauges

  • Wave 1: Chain with luneras' Aureole Ray +2 and should you not kill the cactuar, the passive draw attack on Basch will keep the healers and dmg dealers alive.
  • Wave 2: Reload Lunera duo and wipe the bombs.
  • Wave 3: MAG Cover with Basch, Duo lunera chain and exAileen and CG Fina should LB, target Io. on second round Esunaga or Stop/Charm remove and heal as needed and repeat. Searcher might die on the second volley. round 3 and 4 the LBs should be back up. rinse repeat try to an Esper if viable on this phase.
  • Wave 4: Lunera does the same. CG Fina Element Buff team, Ayaka can dual cast reraise on Basch and Fina. ExAileen LB on Main Body if up otherwise Piledriver. Basch AoE MAG cover. Make sure CG Fina can use her LB before the arms die and before the main body is below 50%. Use exAileen LB liberally
  • Wave 5: The fun and easy one! Reraise on Basch exAileen, Lunera 1 and Fina. Basch AoE MAG cover. Lunera duo chain and keep using exAileen's LB. For the Missions, Bahamut esper to chain cape with Lunera and exAileen LB. Use Fina's LB to keep up the reraise and the Light debuff. I actually finished using Basch's LB because my aileen on beserked on the last attack instead of Basch that round.

Occasionally Basch wont provoke the Charms, Stops or Beserks. This can be annoying but ultimately Ayaka clears the stop or you can use Mystea instead of Basch to accomplish a similar effect, and Merc Ramza as a Physical Provoke Tank. I haven't tried to pull this off yet. If you do this, you might consider a different healer instead of Ayaka.

Also on recovering from bad berserks and such, you can use a Lunera as a bard for 3 turns to heal and refresh with stat buff as needed

Kentrol

-Clearing all Mission with, i used this

  • CG Fina with Carbuncle (Reraise, Light Damage, Heal) (900+ Psy)
  • CG Lid With Bahamut (Rikku's Pouche, Heavy Break)
  • CG Nichol with Shiva(Buff) (700+ mp, 600 psy)
  • Mustache Lord Wilhelm with Golem (Taunt and Big Mitigation) (11,5k HP, 800+ Def, 550+ Psy, and Various elemental Resist)
  • Onion Knight with Ifrit (Elemental Attack AND Resistance) (1122 Attack)
  • Friend : Onion Knight (1036 Attack)

First, Don't equip any elemental weapon on OK except Ice or Light, otherwise you'll get trouble.

  • Wave 1 : The cactuar got a Huge amount of defense, so be sure to Perfectly Chain the 2 OK on him after the buff of Nichol and Excentric of Lid. If the Cactuar stay alive, use a Reraise on Wilhelm and then Provoke. Repeat until defeat.
  • Wave 2 : The magic attack you could take here are Deadly cause you can't break. But we have the tricks ! Use 2x Splendor of Water on a GREEN Bombo, that's important. If you chain perfectly this will kill it in one Turn, Your Fire resistance is now buffed by 70% Making your team really hard on this, and OK become Immune to fire. Use Nichol to make an +70% Ice Resistance and Soulful Stance, and use Wilhelm LB for 50% Mitigation. If everything was going well, you won't take much damage. Repeat by Killing all bombo, one by one.
  • Wave 3 : If you kill Searcher, Io Enrage... Whatever ? CG Lid save the day here ! Buff your self as usual and use Lid's Limit Break (Lvl 20-25), then use the 2 Onion Knight with Splendor of Earth on the SEARCHER. If everything goes well, searcher die in one turn. Then It's really easy to kill Io. Keep the Break with Lid, Taunt with Mustache Lord, Attack with OK and Fina (if she can use a turn for that) and the buff of Nichol. The Maximum Wave could hardly do 2000 damage to your team with Lid's Break and the mitigation of Nichol. Try to save Lid's LB for the next fight if you can, or Fina.
  • Wave 4 : Now, this is going serious. But nothing really hard. If Lid got her LB use it, if not, Entrust with Fina on Lid. Buff like allways, and taunt. Now, the two OK chain Splendor of Fire on the Tentacle. With Lid's Break And OK's Water Resist, your team could hardly take any damage from any source. Keep an Eye on Wilhelm, cause his MP will be at 0 for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNG Time during the fight, refresh his MP With Nichol when you need to Taunt. If Your Esper Gauge is full AND you used Lid's LB Last Turn, you could use OK Aoe Chain and cast Bahamut. This make the Tentacle take around 30% Of their Max HP. If you fail a Turn of break, you will most likely wipe. But everything should be good.
  • Wave 5 : The Final Boss. As he Uses, Wind, Earth, Water, Thunder and Fire, OK got his time to Shine ! By covering 4 of the 5 elements ! Use Splendor of Earth, Wind and Fire in this Order. If Wilhelm got Basch's Shield then your tank is allmost Immortal. Use a Splendor of Water when you pass a Threshold and everything will be fine. Clear status Ailment with Fina, Break with Lid, Don't hesisate to abuse of Bahamut. In the last 20%, Some Berserk could be cast, Just Dispel your Team with a Bushido Freedom (or Dispelga trick) and everything will be ok.

If everything goes well, Your team won't even die once.

Premiering A. Rain[]

Greetings, gonna give you what I used for this battle. I couldn't come with any original name sans the fact it was the first trial/battle I used my newly acquired A. Rain so. Party was WoL (tanky, with some ele resist, i.e no evade) equipped with Leviathan for Architeuth battle, A. Rain (lots of HP/SPR and ele resist with Lakshmi so as to not mess with the ele resistances, CG Fina (lots of SPR too, helps with heals and MP restoring) I had her with Carbuncle for that sweet SPR, CG Nichol (mostly lots of MP and some HP) equipped with Phoenix since Raise with Dualcast could come handy, Raegen (with Hyomonto and Excalibur and lots of ATK boosts) with Diabolos for the Greater Demon and Friend Sephy (so long as it has Light ele, preferably Excal or better, you're set).

The Cactuar: Low HP but insane DEF/SPR and no breaks. Just chain kill this sucker and it will die. I capped Arch Punisher too as an additional measure. Had Nichol Lone Stance both chainers, it helps a lot.

The Bombs: Have Rain use Energy Wall while Fina uses Divine Veil (unless your Magic Tank has enough ele resist?). Lone Stance the chainers, and kill the Bombs 1 by 1 while you laugh at their pitiful spells doing absolutely nothing at all. Killing one Bomb each turn will give you plenty of time so they don't explode.

The Robots: There is Io and there is the Searcher. The former is the big attacker, the latter is support and casts, Stop, Confuse, Charm, etc, etc. Have WoL provoke and eat all those ST stunts at you while A. Rain Covers for the pt. It wouldn't hurt to buff all the party with some dmg mitigation so I used Soulful Stance + Impregnable Stance first then later Lone Stanced the chainers, and I did have Fina use Divine Veil (with Carbuncle you can Barthundara). Premise is simple, have the chainers kill Io first then the Searcher, doing it inverselly makes Io to go mad and wipe you.

You may have to Dualcast Dispel in order to dispel your own WoL from the charms and stuff from and reapply the provoke so he becomes the ailment bag. I had A. Rain use Concentrating Focus and then Unleashed Focus as a capper and it hastened the battle A LOT. Once Io is trashed, the Searcher is just LOL.

The Mad Squid: Ok this sucker is a lil bit more complex. What I did was have WoL Cover (due to Jump About), A. Rain provoke (yes he has a 2 turn provoke), put Reraise on both of them, and put defensive buffs with Nichol, first turn. I also used Raegen's ATK break on the main body and Sephy just imperiled one of the tentacles.

What you will do here is kill the tentacles one by one. Wiki's guide for some reason state very much that Architeuth will use Jump About very much every turn, Reddit will use another formula (which doesn't include turn 1). In my case it used Jump About every two turns and when it didn't it used Spells. There may be more than meets the eye so proceed with caution.

If somehow your WoL manages live through Jump About, or it survives the turn after that because the Boss didn't use it. Use that turn to have him use Arms Breaker (will be stronger than Raegen's debuff and will allow daddy to not bother with that task). Since WoL will likely die anyway it is not a biggie since you can just Reraise him so he lives. With Nichol keep cycling defensive buffs as Soulful Stance, Impregnable Stance, Iceberg Stance, Lone Stance (on WoL once he revives, otherwise if you have your people buffed up you can use Lone Stance on the Chainers).

The tentacles love to absorb MP and ST (this is why Awakened Rain is provoking). Thankfully, Nichol and Fina can recharge enough MP instantly to allow him to keep provoking every 2 turns (and he should be sturdy enough to take the damage blows). Once the tentacles are off, it is time to fry the Squid. Be careful as it becomes a real prick as its HP dwindles and can spam Jump About which will get WoL killed even with Reraise.

What I did was use Nichol's Ancient Formula to give a very very big buff to everyone so that the Chainers could kill this prick easier, with the tentacles gone, Rain can be a finisher with his unlock move so you should be able to kill the Squid in 2 turns when nearing 50%, aim for that (use AoE reraise too just in case). Also make sure your WoL is alive for the last round.

The Big Ugly Baddie: At last the final boss of the trial. This guy is rather straightforward. He will spam AoE Spells, use ST Hybrid Attacks and some physical attacks. And will do this ad eternum. Have A. Rain Cover, WoL Provoke, Nichol set Soulful Stance and Impregnable (the AoE physical WILL hit you, but it shouldn't kill you, still best to make your party as sturdy as possible).

So just pummel the sucker away with your chainers (have Lone Stance on them when possible). A. Rain with Lakshmi had Banish so he could be used to stun the sucker while Fina bothered more with heals (HP and MP), btw save the stun for the latter half of the fight so you avoid the berserk as long as you can.

There is one thing you need to be careful about. His threshold %HP DMG attack will get A. Rain killed because he will take 90% HP dmg to him 6 times, so make sure he has Reraise or things will get ugly. For his MAG buff, you can either dispel it or have daddy break him so the boss dispels it himself. Anyway threshold attack comes with status ailments, make sure you're ready for them or things can indeed become quite nasty.

This guy spams more physical attacks as he grows weaker, but they aren't overly strong and with Nichol's buffs you should survive them easily. Berserk can be a bitch if you don't dispel it off from your Provoke Tank soon enough (although doing so will also mean losing the provoke, which means the party will get hit by the ST attacks). Again this is not as worrisome if you've buffed yourself defensively, including Divine Veil for ele resistance. Breaking him also makes him attack less (there was one turn he didn't dispel himself and attack broken but dispelled himself next turn). Since the berserk is such a bastard is why the stunlock is best reserved for this part. Anyway you should aim to kill this bastard as soon as possible although he's quite sturdy. Once more, A. Rain can be a good finisher to speed the process.

And that's the fight. It is not overly tough but rather, just long and obnoxious.

Additional Notes: I failed the No Item mission, it was a silly mistake but the above setup should make it so you don't need items. If you don't have A. Rain, you can still use this strategy. Alas the key to victory will be your Tanks, which need to be able to do Magic Cover, Physical Cover and Provoke, and do those roles accordingly. Both WoL and A. Rain can be provoke and Cover Tanks, otherwise your best bet is likely Basch + any Provoke Tank (that can be geared sturdy enough with overall HP boosts and ele resists). --BGMaxie (talk) 22:07, 21 July 2018 (UTC)

Reraising Basch[]

This is a strat lifted off reddit user jonidschultz's post. This team combines a bunch of strong rainbow units. Basch can cover both physical and magical, and easier to gear for elemental resist. Tidus gives 100% water resist, trivializing the water damage in fight 4. CG Nichol is just a beastly buffer, but high mp consumption.

  • Basch tank with elemental resist. Complete magic immunity would be 100% fire & 130% wind/water/earth/thunder (but mine was only 65% fire, 15% water, 95% earth, 115% wind/thunder)
  • evasion Tidus tank with Golem provoke and Moogle Plushie; Tidus brings 100% water resist to party
  • CG Fina brings the all important Reraise and Curaja. Equipped her with Carbuncle for Barthundera & Barfira.
  • Sephirothx2 (Odin on one for Fingersnap dispel.) I think Lilax2 would be much better; the original strat used Freyviax2.
  • CG Nichol: the ally I used came with confuse & paralyze resist

Note: all units are equipped with confuse & paralyze immunity

  • Wave 1: Tidus provokes; cast Reraise on Tidus. This should handle the needles, but no necessary since my dps OTKO the cactuar anyways
  • Wave 2: Basch Twilight Guard (magic cover); cast Reraise on Basch. AoE as much as possible so that the bombs explode (wiki says <70%). In my case, 3 bombs exploded, and 3 bombs didn't and I AoE'd them; my Basch actually survived the explosions.
  • Wave 3: Tidus Provokes every 3 turns. Basch atk/mag break then magic covers. CG Nichol buffs. Barthundera useful here. Odin Fingersnap to dispel Tidus every three turns so he can recast Provoke. Slowly whittle Io down, then kill the annoying Searcher.
  • Wave 4: Tidus Blitz Mania for 100% water resist and then maintains Provoke. Basch Dawn Guard (physical cover) and often dies; if he survives, then atk break. Keep reraise and some kind of water resist up on him. CG Nichol stat buffs, water resist when Tidus busy. CG Fina & Nichol both can provide instant mp for Tidus who is zero mp at the beginning of every turn once he provokes. Slowly whittle Architeuth down.
  • Wave 5 is the hardest with this strat:
    • Tidus Provokes and gives MP regen when able or if Basch needs water resist and Demon is casting Flood next. At <50% phase, Demon will beserk Tidus every other turn, so then also Fingersnap (dispel) Tidus every other turn, so Tidus can keep up Provoke.
    • CG Fina maintains reraise on Basch and Barthundra (if Flood up next)/Barfira (if crossing 50/20 thresholds)/Divine Veil when able.
    • Basch magic cover. Sometimes I atk break, but he dispels himself anyways and 2xEvil Sweep doesn't hurt too bad with CG Nichol's amazing buffs. Basch dies and gets reraised often. Basch died at almost every threshold (Cursed Black Sphere does percentage damage) except the last threshold where he did Flarex2 (which was resisted since I had fire resist buffs up) and I'm not sure why the demon ended his turn.
    • CG Nichol's HP regen, DEF, and damage reduction buffs are amazing. Keep them up on the party. I was able to Barstonra Basch before the Demon cast Quake.
    • The two chainers just slowly whittle the demon down and use CG Fina to LB finish.
    • At first, I used CG Fina to dual cast reraise & Banish/Holy and the second turn I saw "Flinching from the Light", but the Demon did his threshold and earth spells anyways. Third turn I used Basch to cast Banish (from Ramuh) and it actually stopped him (but I saw both "Flinching" and "Trembling" messages). I kept trying to use Banish or Holy from CG Fina to get the demon to flinch again, but never saw it again. My Basch was also too busy at that point to cast Banish. After several turns, I gave up trying to get the demon to flinch. (Perhaps dual casting spells don't count towards the flinching?)

Probably you can swap out Tidus with evasion Chizuru & Leviathan Barwatera. Probably Basch can be swapped out for WoL/Barusa with some physical mitigation buffs; but without a magic tank, you'll have to single target the bombs, and AoE reraise on demon thresholds. I don't think CG Nichol is replacable with this setup. --Vkbd (talk) 08:29, 22 July 2018 (UTC)

Using DragonLord to finish squid (remove need for physical tank and negate reraise and mp drain)[]

Cleared using DragonLord as finisher, freyvia friend (make sure it is not doublehand Freyvia!!) and another ice chainer (Agrias/Dark Veritas or your own Freyvia will be best), Mystea with 100% fire and ice, cg nichol (preferably maxed LB) and ace as imperil (tri-beam laser+2 and spirit hand+2) to do all missions. Special equip: Metal slash (on anyone beside your 2 chainers), and cg nichol as provoker (golem+ moogle plushie, will explain why later)

  • Wave 1: Metal slash (2000 fixed dmg) to cap the 2 ice chains should kill the cactuar
  • Wave 2: This is where u can slowly recover yr mp and build yr lb as your mystea stands and laughs at the bombs' faces. Slowly chain each bomb to death (2 ice chains should be able to OHKO one bomb each). If esper gauge is built up, just summon any random esper.
  • Wave 3: OHKO the IO with your dragonLord and 2 ice chainers. I used Ace to imperil, Mystea to cast clear veil and Nichol to buff. With only the Searcher left, proceed to slowly ice chain to death (should take 2-3 turns at most). Use this time to also try and Recover Dragonlord's mp to full
  • Wave 4: Ah the stupid squid. Rather than tank all the physical AoE and mp drain, why not just OHKO the squid?

Same as per IO, use Ace to imperil, Nichol to buff (normal buff, not his LB), and dragonLord finisher on top of 2 ice chains. Once you kill the head, the tentacles go. Test and see if you can still kill the squidhead while using either Ace or Nichol to recover mp. Otherwise just follow above. If your 2nd esper gauge is built up, cast it then rather than later.

  • Wave 5: This is where it may get a bit tricky.

The aim is to cross each threshold every turn so that you don't trigger the rest of his moveset.

    • For Turn 1: By now your DragonLord's mp might be running a little low. (I was still able to cast at least 1 X kafrizzle when I hit Wave 5). Use CG Nichol's LB (should recover some mp + awesome buffs), Ace imperil, dragonLord to kafrizzle on top of the chains. Use Mystea to cast CLEAR VEIL, not tritelia wall. This should negate the status ailments from the cursed black sphere.

That should bring him down to 60+ %, which is below 70% threshold.Hopefully your mystea does not guard a random person and dies to the AoE magic attack (cursed black sphere). Otherwise, it shouldn't kill anyone else (only lowers to 10% hp)

    • For Turn 2: This is where your Nichol becomes the sacrificial lamb. Cast provoke on him. The main point is after crossing the 2nd threshold at 50%, the demon will add 2X flare, which you do not want to hit on Ace or your 3 damage dealers. If Mystea didn't die on Turn 1, use her Tritelia wall, so that she can tank the Cursed Black sphere. If she is dead, it doesn't matter, as the cursed black sphere won't kill. Impt thing is someone other than your Ace (LB finish), Dragon Lord and 2 chainers don't get hit by flare. Use Ace's spirit hand to recover mp for the last Kafrizzle. If your luck is good, you might recover 140 mp. Hopefully, even the basic spirit hand should be able to push your dragonlord's mp slightly above 150.
    • Turn 3: You should have crossed the final threshold with the demon at around 20 plus % left.

Use DragonLord kafrizzle on top of your 2 ice chainers, then use Ace's LB to finish it off (by now Ace's LB should have been full over the past 5 battles).

And viola, One Battle All Missions Accomplished.
