Abilities

• Brimstone: Fire magic damage (3x) to all enemies. Add fire element to physical attacks for 3 turns to all enemies
• Counter Hell Combo: Physical damage (1.5x) to one enemy
• Counter Trine: Magic damage (1.5x) to all enemies

Tips

• See testimonials and discussions.
• On turn 1, Materia Keeper will use Brimstone, Hell Combo, Hell Combo.
• Brimstone adds fire element to your physical attacks. Since it's strong against fire, use any of the following to counter the effect:
  • Kill it in 1 turn.
  • Use dispel on your physical attackers.
  • Use fire imperil or weapon of different element and ignore the reduced damage.
  • Use magic attackers instead.
• Both Hell Combo will hit your highest SPR unit. Make sure to cover, provoke, or guard.
• Materia Keeper counters each physical attack with Counter Hell Combo, and each magic attack with Counter Trine. This counter targets the attacker and ignores provoke, but can be covered with their respective cover.
• Every 3 turns, it will use Trine. If you are not bringing a magic cover, make sure your party member has sufficient SPR, otherwise guard the attack.
• At 50% HP threshold, Materia Keeper will use:
  • Hell Combo 3 times on your lowest HP unit. Make sure to cover, provoke, or guard.
  • Brimstone once.
• After the threshold, each turn it will use one Brimstone and one Hell Combo on turns where it doesn't cast Trine.
• If you're dying too much and having trouble, remember the more you zerg Materia Keeper, the more it zergs back. Try reducing your party to one DPS, and don't be afraid to take a turn or two with no engagement, so you can focus on support abilities, curing, and applying reraises on tanks. The best way to win this battle is slowly and through attrition.
• In the exploration, there is a rare encounter with Dragon (immune to ATK/MAG Break). Be careful as this enemy is much stronger than the rest, just below the boss. It will remove one unit at the 80% and the 40% HP threshold. Should you defeat it, the removed units will be returned back to your party. You may also use Escape to avoid the battle altogether.
